Dear Parents,
Christ The King School has recently become a member of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Team Nutrition. Over 30,000
schools across the nation have joined Team Nutrition.
Team Nutrition is a USDA nutrition education initiative that supports schools in providing healthy school meals, and nutrition and physical activity education to students and families. The goal of Team Nutrition is: To improve children’s lifelong eating and physical habits by using the principles of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the Food Guide Pyramid. Team Nutrition focuses on these four messages: Eat a variety of foods; Eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains; Eat lower fat foods more often; and be physically active.
Our involvement in this nutrition education initiative is vital to achieving our goal of assuring a healthy future for our nation’s children.
For the program to be effective it needs to be fun and interactive in order to capture the children’s attention. I have attached a resource list of all the different web links that will be helpful in providing information for your family. Remember, a healthier tomorrow begins today.
