Principal's Welcome

Rachael Chatham, Principal Thank you for visiting our website. I’m Rachael Chatham and am proud to be the Principal of Christ the King Catholic School in Norfolk, Virginia. As of today we have approximately 360 students enrolled at the school. We have always had a great school with great teachers, but what I think is most important is the feeling of family that the school has between its students, faculty, staff, parents and the Parish. This intangible feeling of community is a hallmark of the school. We continue to strive for excellence to ensure that all students receive a quality education and ensure that they are challenged in mind, body and spirit to grow throughout the year.

We pride ourselves in having specialized education programs. With these programs we are now able to accommodate students that have mild to moderate learning disabilities/special needs. As we move into the 2010/2011 school year we will continue to focus on specialized education AND meeting the needs of the advanced learner as well. This year we were able to secure a grant from the Beazely Foundation for $24,000 to ensure our work with the gifted student progresses and continues. Our partnerships with ODU, Norfolk State and EVMS allow us to enhance and accelerate the learning process for our students. These partnerships bring professors and college students to our school on a weekly basis to help us strive for excellence. Our “Center for Excellence” offers technology and broadcasting opportunities that prepare our students for the 21st Century. Our accelerated reader (AR) program encourages reading and is tailored to meet the individual abilities of each student. While academics are important, our Catholic Identity remains the top priority. The students will continue to celebrate Mass each week and receive religious education daily. Service, Leadership, Character, & Citizenship are just a few of the values we strive to instill in our students as we walk in Faith together.

Coming to Christ the King School is like being a part of a very large family. The dedication our faculty and staff have to our families is immeasurable. Please call or come by for a tour of our wonderful facilities and experience first hand what CTK has to offer you and your children. We are a strong community--strong in our Catholic Identity, strong in our commitment to one another, and strong in fostering an environment that believes the possibilities for our school and community are endless.

Thank you & God Bless,

Rachael Chatham, Principal
